About my degree work

The topic of conventional till-based soil management and its impact on climate is absent from the mainstream debate about climate change. Topsoil is the second largest carbon sink and it is what humanity has been destroying more rapidly than any other resource on the planet. This degree work attempts to illuminate this issue.

The trite formulas of the Save The Planet narrative have framed environmentalism as an act of altruism towards the planet as opposed to an act of self-preservation.  Drawing on this observation I shift the focus from Save The Planet to Save Humanity from accelerated extinction due to environmental anthropocentrism.

I trust the power of art to evoke ecological empathy and reframe our relationship with the natural world. I believe that part of reconnecting humans with nature should include an effort to invigorate appreciation of ecological knowledge and practices.
