Work Statement

As an interdisciplinary artist inspired by the microcosm that lies beneath my feet, I use soil microbiome as a proxy to challenge the culture of environmental anthropocentrism.

Knowledge of the structures and functions of the molecular components of life underpins the understanding of whole organisms and reveals the true hierarchy of species on the planet. By re-examining what can't be seen with the naked eye I question the perception of the micro as inferior to the macro.

Artistically elevating the role of soil microbiome – the fuel that powers this planet – I question man’s position of superiority over other forms of life.
